Kasprowy Wierch (1985 m)
Wznosi się na głównej grani Tatr na granicy polsko-słowackiej, omal w środku Tatr Polskich, ponad dolinami: Stawów Gąsienicowych od wsch., Goryczkową od zach., Kasprową od pn. i od pd. - należąca już do Słowacji - Doliną Cichą. Poniżej wierzchołka (1985 m), na którym stoi obserwatorium meteorologiczne, znajduje się stacja kolei linowej, z Kuźnic na Kasprowy Wierch.
Kolej linową Kuźnice - Kasprowy Wierch zbudowano w latach 1935-36. Stacja dolna Kuźnice, na wysokości 1051 m, stacja pośrednia Myślenickie Turnie, na wysokości 1352 m, stacja górna Kasprowy Wierch, na wysokości 1953 m. Długość odcinka dolnego 1973 m, górnego 2208 m - razem 4181 m. Różnica wzniesień: odcinek dolny 301 m, górny 607 m - razem 908 m. Największe wzniesienie wagonika ponad terenem ok. 200 m (opodal Kasprowego, ponad Dolina Kasprową). Szybkość jazdy ok. 5 m/sek. Czas jazdy: odcinek dolny 7 min., górny 10 min.
Kasprowy Wierch jest punktem wyjścia na szereg szlaków i wycieczek tatrzańskich. W zimie jest głównym ośrodkiem sportu narciarskiego: z wierzchołka bardzo dobre zjazdy w różnych kierunkach.
Z Kasprowego wiodą znakowane szlaki turystyczne:
- czerwony na Świnicę (2300 m - ok. 2 h) i dalej jako tzw. Orla Perć, biegnąca grzbietem wznoszącym się od pd. ponad Halą Gąsienicową. Ok. 1 godz. od Świnicy po
Przełęcz Zawrat (2159 m), z której zejście za znakami niebieskimi na Halę Gąsienicową (ku pn.) lub do Doliny Pięciu Stawów Polskich ku pd.);
- żóły - droga zejściowa na Halę Gasienicowa (ok. 0.45 h) i dalej do Zakopanego ok. 2 h);
- zielony - grzbietem pomiędzy dolinami Kasprową a Goryczkową na Myślenickie Turnie i stąd do Kuźnic (w zejściu ok. 2.30 h);
- czerwony - wiodący granicznym, głównym grzbietem Tatr, z Kasprowego na Czerwone Wierchy (ok. 3 h).
Kasprowy Wierch (1985 m)
Kasprowy Wierch is a peak that rises from the main ridge of the Tatras on the Polish-Slovakia frontier almost in the very centre of the Polish Tatras. It is surrounded by the valleys: Dolina Stawów Gąsienicowych on the east, Dolina Goryczkowa on the west, Dolina Kasprowa on the north, and (in Slovakia) Dolina Cicha on the south. There is a meteorological observatory on the summit (1985 m), and slightly lower than the summit is
the top station of the cable-car from Kuźnice to Kasprowy Wierch.
The Kuźnice-Kasprowy Wierch cable-car was built in 1935-1936. The bottom station is at Kuźnice (alt. 1051 m), the middle one at Myślenickie Turnie (alt. 1352 m), and the top one on Kasprowy Wierch (alt. 1953 m). The length of the lower section is 1973 m, that of the upper one 2208 m, which makes altogether 4181 m. The difference in altitude is as follows: lower section - 301 m, upper section - 607 m, altogether - 908 m. The biggest height above the ground is about 200 m, above the Dolina Kasprowa, near Kasprowy. Speed: approx. 5 m per second. Time: lower section - 7 min, upper section - 10 min.
Kasprowy Wierch is the starting point for a number of mountain trails and climbs. In the winter it is the principal ski centre. There are very fine runs from the summit, in several directions.
From Kasprowy Wierch there are several marked trails.
- The red one leads to Mt Świnica (2300 m - approx. 2 h), and then as the Orla Perć (Eagle Path), along the mountain ridge towering over Hala Gąsienicowa in the south. About 1 hour from Świnica we come to a saddle, Przełęcz Zawrat (2159 m), from which one descends, following the blue trail, to Hala Gąsienicowa on the north, or to the valley Dolina Pięciu Stawów Polskich, in the south.
- The yellow trail from Kasprowy leads down to the Hala Gasienicowa (about 0.45 h) and then to Zakopane (approx. 2 h).
- The green trail follows the ridge between the Dolina Kasprowa and the Dolina Goryczkowa, as far as Myślenickie Turnie, and then drops down to Kuźnice (descent - approx. 2.30 h).
- The red trail, holding to the main ridge of the Polish-Slovakia frontier, leads from Kasprowy to Czerwone Wierchy (approx. 3 h).
